Connect your external shopping cart with Zapier

Give users access to a Searchie Hub after they purchase your product(s) through a payment processor other than Stripe

🧰 What You Will Need

  1. A private Searchie Hub

  2. A Zapier account

  3. A shopping cart or payment processor software

What can I use this for?

You can use Zapier to automate Hub access to anyone who purchases your products. The exact Zap workflow you need to use depends on which shopping cart platform you are using. Each platform has its own terminology that is reflected in the options available in the Zapier integration, but all platforms will generally have some equivalent of a "new successful purchase" inside Zapier.

Check out the chart below to see which Zap Trigger Event you'll want to use to implement your automated Hub access in Zapier. This information is important as you'll need it for Step 3.

HINT: If you're using Stripe to process payments, we recommend setting up Searchie Payments as it eliminates the need for Zapier.

Step 1 - Create your checkout page

Set up your checkout page in your shopping cart platform. We recommend using a platform that integrates with Zapier in order to keep this process simple for you.

To send purchase information into Searchie, you'll want to collect the following information on your checkout page:

  1. Your audience member's first and last name

  2. Your audience member's email

  3. (Optional) Your audience member's phone number

Step 2a - Create your Zap

Access your Zapier dashboard to start creating your workflow.

Choose your shopping cart platform (ConvertKit in this example) to be connected with Searchie.

  • Set When this happens... to be New Successful Purchase (or your platform's equivalent listed in the chart in Step 1)

  • Set then do this! to be Add or Update Audience in Searchieimage-png-Feb-08-2024-10-50-22-5962-PM

Click Try it once you're happy with your selection. You will then be taken into your Zap Editor where you can fill out your Zap Trigger and Action.

Step 2b - Fill out your Zap Trigger

The first part of your Zap is the Trigger. This is where we will fill out the details of the event that takes place to "trigger", or "activate and run", the Zap. For this Zap, the Trigger will be your shopping cart platform.

Fill out your Zap Trigger with the following information:

  • Under Choose account, sign in to your shopping cart platform

  • Under Set up trigger, select the product(s) or program(s) that you created a checkout page for in Step 2

  • Select Test trigger to confirm that the right account and right trigger are selected

Step 2c - Fill out your Zap Action

The second part of your Zap is the "Action". This is where we link information from the "Zap Trigger" that we're looking to send to Searchie in order to grant access to the Hub associated with the product or program your audience purchased.

Fill out your Zap Action with the following information:

  • Under Choose account, sign in to your Searchie account

  • Under Set up action, insert the matching fields from your shopping cart platform as pictured below

    • This is also where you will select one (or more) Hubs to grant your audience access to.

    • We recommend setting Email Hub Login? to Yes if you want your members to receive their Hub access email immediately after they make their purchase through your shopping cart platform.

    • See the screenshot below for more information on how to set up your "Action"

image-png-Feb-08-2024-10-51-44-8527-PMHINT: If inserting your audience's first and last name, add a space between the two fields to ensure that the name is imported correctly as opposed to being formatted as FirstnameLastname.

Once you've filled out your "Zap Action" fields, test your action to ensure that the right account and right fields are set up.

Step 3 - Turn on your Zap

After your Zap Action has been tested, you can turn on your Zap once you're ready to accept new users into your Hub. Sweet! 😎

What You Can Do Now

  1. Import any existing users that have already purchased your products

  2. Create Segments to tailor Hub experience based on what your members purchase

  3. Customize your Hub Welcome Emails that will be sent every time someone purchases your product or program
